Can my child go into the deep end?
Every summer, the pool staff is asked many times about whether or not a certain child may use the diving board or swim in the deep end. The policy that restricts use of the deep end is very important and has been created to make the pool as safe as possible for everyone. Please see a manger on duty if you still have any questions about the deep end. Thank you in advance for helping to make the deep end fun and safe.
Can my child swim in the deep end alone?
Children that swim or dive off the boards in the deep end should be allowed only if that swimmer can demonstrate a proficiency to swim unassisted without any flotation device and subject to management or lifeguard approval. They must exit at the ladder and swimmers may also swim in the deep end at times allowed by life guards on duty.
Is it ok if my child goes in the deep end and I watch him or her from the side of the pool?
Starclaire appreciates and congratulates those parents who supervise their children. If a child cannot pass the deep-water test, then they can’t swim in the deep end, period.
Can my child jump off the diving boards to me if he or she is wearing a life jacket?
Children wearing any style of flotation device - inflatable swimmies, lifejackets, etc. - must remove these devices when in the deep end. In addition they must be able to pass the deep water swimming test.
